Central Otago Gold - Aerial View

NZ$140.00

This piece depicts the beautiful currents of water we have in Central Otago.  The gold is plentiful but out of reach.  Many people pan for gold and I see the occasional dredge.  We have gold mines operating around us now with one being in Roxburgh.  The gold is this piece of work is the untouchable kind, it is under those strong currents, it has been there for such a long time and it will still be there in the future.  It has a natural occurrance in a beautiful place.  Back in the day, there were miners living in huts around Central Otago and these huts can still be seen today.  It is always fascinating to me that so much in this area lies beneath the water, Cromwell being the prime example.

Anyway, for this piece, I have used a lot of texture below the surface so this is definately not a flat surface.  I have used black acrylic, gold alcohol ink, a resin top coat gold and bronze foil pieces.  The rivers are created using poured turquoise wax.  This piece has a stunning shine created using resin.
