Little Birdy

Little Birdy is a wee character who is looking for things out in nature so she can build her nest, she is also looking for things to eat.  Unfortunately, Little Birdy finds a lot of rubbish and it is difficult to find what she should actually be using/eating.  Little Birdy is a reminder to us all that it is important to take your rubbish with you when you go.  Bird life is especially beautiful and something many of us take for granted.  Birds nests are not meant to be built using wrappers of plastic.  Their diet is not supposed to be your left over piece of hamburger and a tossed piece of cheese.  Let nature do it's thing.

Little Birdy is on a canvas, she has black acrylic edging.  The blue in this work is created using collaged pieces of alcohol ink on transparent material.  She has a periwinkle for an eye and some paua attaching her tail feathers.  Little Birdy is delicate, the edging is made with all sorts of bits and pieces, representing rubblish.  Pieces that would usually be thrown out but are reused, bits of dried acrylic, filled with colours.  A little acrylic work with some of the border outline and Little Birdy's beak.  There is also a little glitter sprinkled around the border for that extra wee sparkle.
